Change the biome.

We will be changing the biome for the animal and altering where it lives. This is the same as the invasive species challenge, but elephants are somewhat larger!

 

If homed outside a zoo facility i.e. in a sanctuary or wild life reserve, we must ensure the local community in the proposed secure site are involved and on board with the project.

If released into non-zoo wildlife area we also need to ensure the ecosystem into which elephants are released is not destroyed. Therefore the numbers of animals introduced must be carefully selected to ensure it is appropriate for the recommended space.

We are aware that introducing species beyond their distribution range has many challenges and there will be close monitoring of their welfare.
